Why Project Budgeter?
Estimating home improvement costs can be frustrating. Contractor rates, local shipping fees, and material classes fluctuate drastically by city and state. Homeowners are often left with broad national averages that do not reflect their local reality.
Project Budgeter solves this by establishing a state-adjusted pricing database for all 50 US states. Our calculators combine local labor indexes and material transport multipliers with national base figures to deliver highly localized estimates.
Our Cost Estimation Methodology
All calculations are processed using localized multipliers:
- Base Rates: Updated annually by surveying average US material and equipment distributor costs.
- State labor indexes: Calculated based on professional contractor hourly wages and cost of living reports per state.
- Material multipliers: Account for shipping logistics, fuel surcharges, and wholesale merchant costs by region.
Editorial Integrity
Our guides, pricing tables, and data are compiled and reviewed by licensed general contractors, interior architects, and landscape designers. We do not sell leads to contractor networks, ensuring our calculations remain unbiased, free of referral commissions, and focused on helping you budget realistically.
